PTA has advised all cellular services in Pakistan to re-verify their subscribers through biometric system. As per government instructions, it is necessary to verify all numbers on your Original CNIC through thumb impression. Visit your respective Customer Care Center, Franchise or Retail Outlets with CNIC for re-verification before the official deadline (26 February 2015). Non-verified SIMS will be blocked soon after the deadline as per PTA instructions.
Biometric re-verification is one of the most important factors of National Security Plan to eliminate terrorism and to avoid misuse of unregistered SIMS. It is an uphill task, but an obligation to ensure our security.
SIM verification is a simple process and it will take only a few minutes to get your SIM verified. However, if you have purchased a SIM after 1 August 2014, then you are not required to re-verify you SIM.
How to verify your SIM
- Visit your nearest Customer Care Center, Franchise, Retail Outlet along with your original CNIC
- Share the numbers to be re-verified/owned with the representative
- You will be asked to place your thumb on a biometric machine
- Your data will be verified through NADRA and the representative will verify your numbers
- Once your numbers are verified, you will receive an automatic confirmation SMS
- 10 will be charged from Franchise office or from Retail Outlet for Biometric re-verification per CNIC (Re-verification from Customer Care Center is free)
Is it necessary to bring my SIM for biometric re-verification?
If the number is register on your name, then brining SIM for verification is not required. In this case, please visit nearest Service Center, Franchise or Retailer along with your original CNIC to perform Biometric verification. Physical possession of the SIM is not an obligation.
I am unable to visit the Customer Care Center. Can someone perform biometric verification?
Original customer must visit with his CNIC for thumb impression. If you are unable to visit the center then you can surrender the ownership in the name of your siblings/spouse and he/she can visit the center for biometric verification.
I have different SIMS, what I am to do now
You have to visit the respective Service Center, Franchise or Retail Outlet for biometric re-verification of various SIMS. However, if a retail outlet has a BVS machine issued by PTA, then retailer can verify SIMS against your thumb impression.
Is there any fee for SIM verification?
Rs. 10 per number is to be paid if you visit a retail outlet, franchise for SIM re-verification through biometric system.
The owner of SIM has died, can I verify the SIM
You need to transfer the ownership into your name before verification process. Make sure you bring your CNIC, his death certificate and a copy of his CNIC. Transfer of ownership can be done at any Customer Service Center or a Franchise.
